Voting has begun for candidates to fill the four PMBA board seats that expire this year. Seven candidates for those seats have submitted qualification statements to meet the required deadline, and those statements are available here along with a form to submit your vote.
PMBA members can vote in one of two ways. Members can choose to vote on-line using this link, or they can vote in person at the PMBA General Membership meeting on Wednesday September 24. At the meeting, each candidate will give a brief statement of their qualifications, so members will have a chance to meet candidates. On-line voting will be open until September 20.
All PMBA Supporting Members are eligible to vote. A Supporting Member is one who had either paid membership dues or who has contributed 20 or more hours of volunteer work at PMBA-sponsored activities such as trail maintenance. If you believe that you qualify as a Supporting Member because of volunteer activities, please contact the PMBA executive committee at

A great ride, led by Riggs, explored areas of Middle Run that hadn't previously been ridden by many of the riders. We found the Mountain Goat area as well as a neat series of quick switchbacks arranged over a short notch in the hillside. After about 9 miles we headed back to the parking lot for lunch. Having heard the distant thunder all morning, we figured that we could make it to the Skills Park at White Clay before the rain. We were wrong. Skies darkened as we approached, and it started pouring as we raced back to the cars. We only saw about 10 miles of the 30-mile trails, so we'll be heading back there soon. More than 30 mountain bikers showd up for the second PMBA bike clinic of the summer, held on Saturday July 12 and starting at Pachella Field. Organized by PMBA Board member Jesse Kelly, the clinc featured rides for all levels of bikers. Jon Pearce, Lou Harris and Nick Fortune led an "intro" ride, whose riders turned out to be significantly better than typical beginner riders. Jesse gave a "comprehensive " introduction to proper preparation for mountain bike racing and then headed out onto the trial with the race prep group. Tom Coyle took a group of more advanced riders over to the Indian trail for some instruction on handling the rocky descents over there, and Kelly Bostick took the women riders on "Girls Ride" through most of the surrounding trails.
The event was a huge success, with turnout surpassing all estimates. The next clinic is scheduled for Sunday August 10. Check the Events calendar for details |
