Our good buddy Kevin made the newspaper today about the good work he has been doing to clean up that mess. Good stuff!

those people should be ashamed of themselves. they are disgusting and have no sense of decency and civic responsibility. the patrol is admirable and they should recieve a medal from Nutter.
this is a prime ecample of a situation where the city should be increasing fairmount park funding (which I hear they are) as there are pretty much ZERO rangers in Wiss. If there were any they should be walking the devils pool walking path end to end and focus there....but then they'd have to get out of their cars/trucks whishc is where i usually see them and taking a truck down to devils pool seems pretty tough.

Don't quote me on any of this but I heard the current situation is impossible to secure. Police radios don't work in the area, there is no vehicle access, any 'perpetrators' can just run into the woods and authorities would essentially be stranded. And I have no doubt that emergency responders or authorities could easily be out-gunned, not that we want Fairmont Park Rangers having to deal with armed criminals to begin with.
The graffiti is being done likely by a couple individuals. In fact, one is a regular 'tagger' putting his/her name everywhere. They are trying to communicate with city authorities to identify the POS.
No doubt most Devil's Pool regulars are just having fun, and many I'm sure suffer more from ignorance than are out to purposely damage the area or intimidate others. But I have heard personally from a number of people that they are not comfortable going over there. Parents out for a peaceful Sunday family hike suddenly find themselves retreating in fear do to the general out-of-control atmosphere.
Personally I wouldn't head over there on a sunny day without a flack jacket
. Hats off to Kevin, the interns and the clean-up volunteers.

I think the same people who are doing that are the ones doing "burnouts" between the parking lot and Wise's Mill, and also jumoing from the Valley Green Road bridge into the SHALLOW waters of the creek.
Darwin will surely even out the playing field soon; though it may take some moron to die or get paralyzed from jumping.
How many flak jackets do you guys need? - I still have a bunch (and some other aggressive deterrents) from the Y2K scare.

I say we take DNA samples of the people who litter at Devils Pool by trashing the place with all that garbage on the ground( I actually am building a Lab in my basement so it shouldn't take too long) and then make clones of the people who littered and train them to seek out and destroy themselves..... anyone who wants to help me with the quick aging process is welcome, I want almost exact replicas when it occurs.

Cool,
Just realized after reading the article that my niece is one of the Temple interns helping to clean this area up.
