I am on vacation and want to get up to Bear Creek or French creek or just anywhere cool within an hour or so drive sometime this week.  Anyone else have spare time in the day to go with me?  I'd like to have a riding partner just in case some shit happens. I've ridden bear creek alone and didn't see anyone else there the whole time.

I'm thinking Thursday, maybe Friday if anyone else wants to go then instead.  I could do Bear Creek, French Creek, Salisbury, South Mountain, American Standard......I love them all!

Bear Creek is formally the Doe Mountain ski resort. They vamped the place up, put in a conference center and some hotel rooms (I think) and encourage MTB off season. I don't think they run the lifts but it is not a huge mountain. That being said it is a mountain nonetheless so you have a great loop with half featuring a hell of a lot of climbing and the other half a lot of radical down hill.

It's very close to Philly and it's not to be missed. I wish I could join you...

here's their MTB page: http://www.skibearcreek.com/summer/summer_mountainbiking.aspx  You can park at the lot on the way in on next to the MTB loop instead of going all the way to the resort. They ask that you fill out a parking pass and a waiver; both free.

They have a great loop there. It's one of my favorite races in the MASS. It's got some rocks so be prepared for that.

Squads, do you want to go tomorrow around lunch?  I have to get my truck worked on in the morning and then could go.  I live in the city but my mechanic is in Roxborough, where are you located?  I could pick you up when my truck gets done.  You'll love Bear Creek.  It's only an hour away and it is a ball buster 45min climb followed by a kick ass 20min down hill!  It's fast, technical, rocky, all of the above.  I love it!

Tomorrow around lunch works fine.  I live in Queens Village, so I don't know if thats out of the way for you or not.  I could meet you somewhere closer if that would work better.  Anyway I dropped you a PM with my contact info.

I didn't get your message yet, but let's plan on meeting in the Roxborough area around 10.  My truck should be done by then.  If you don't mind driving, we could actually leave earlier but I think traffic would negate any time we'd save there.  Give me a call at 816-645-6757 in the morning and we can work out details.

Yeah my bad I can't message people.  10 sounds good.  Just a fair warning, you are probably gonna smoke me up the climb.  I'm all for rocky, technical terrain and bombing downhill, but I don't crank hills in big gears.

You and I will be in the same boat there.  I guess just call in the morning and we'll leave one of our vehicles someplace by the Green Lane exit.
