Hey guys,

Last year I went out to Moab, UT for the second time and ever since I've been itching to return. I really want to go out again in the fall, but I'm currently companionless at this time. So far I've done Kokopelli Down, Porcupine Rim, Slickrock Trail, Amasa Back, Eagle's Perch Trail, and Gemini Bridges. I bought a guide and a map, so I've been itching to get out again and knock down another couple of names to add to the list.

So far, my only plans are the fall. Maybe taking a long five-day weekend or even longer if the will exists. Other than that, I have no plans, but I am willing on working around others if they're interested. Feel free to either drop me a line here or e-mail me.

Hello Dudeman,

DenX here - I'm relatively new to Phillymtb, but not to mountain biking or the Wissahickon, which is my favorite place to ride...  I love to bike-n-travel and went to Moab in late Nov. of 06....    I was virtually the only one on the trails....  I'm a solo traveler/rider most of the time, but would be open to going with one....   it has its advantages...   I can't say for sure, but I'm looking into taking a trip within the year...  Actually, I was thinking of Albuquerque, NM....   perhaps in the next couple of months...  due to the trails being accessible from the city.  I wouldn't have to rent a car from the airport or to trails from lodging...

Anyway, I'm interested to know your experiences in Moab....   Were you, or the trails inundated with riders, specifically motorized riders?  I could have been left for buzzards had I had an accident out there due to no one being around..  though I'd prefer that from being swarmed by motorized vehicles, which I hear can be quite a nusiance there.  I didn't ride Porcupine Rim - and didn't care for Slickrock....  (It was my first experience with such terrain and I needed to ease into such).  I enjoyed Amasaback, Gemini Bridges, Hurrah Pass and another trail - Bar-M trail I think it's called?    I'm adept on certain trails and not on others....   Generally, I like faster riding and not too rocky (I loathe baby-head rock gardens like French Creek).  I had issues in Moab with my new clip-in pedals, which were crank-Bros egg beaters - I could not get out of them, hence it affected my riding quite a bit..  maybe for the best, as I hiked-n-biked in areas where I could have dropped 800 plus feet...

I made a couple friends at Rim Cyclery and went riding one day with them at Gemini Bridges, which was snow covered in many parts...  My rides in the morning were in the 20's - unseasonably cold...  warming up to the mid-30's - though for the most part, the sun made it palitable....

I stayed across the street from the Moab Brewery and went out to a couple bars and met a few locals...  I pretty much had the town to myself....

It would be best to meet at a trail sometime and go from there...  You can get me at this address or hotmail - derosadennis@hotmail.com - I'm Dennis

Welcome to PMBA Dennis. Just a note on the egg beaters. Make sure you use the shims as that is probably why they are tight (I have an extra set if you need), and make sure the cleat with the two dots is on the right shoe as that will give you a 15 degree release instead of 20.
