Hi Everyone! So we would like to start a regular women's ride. There are a few people already interested in helping leading but if you would like to join us let us know how you would like it structured. What day of the week would be best? How fast or slow should it be?

For those interested, let's try to do an initial ride tomorrow during the trail maintenance day (11:30). We will take a break from the trail work to  do a quick ride and get a chance to ride together before lunch and finishing up the trail work.

I'm interested in a women's ride  Grin

Actually regular riders Donna and Lisa (who I think are members) might be interested, and a few others I know. I suggest keeping it casual and social to start, and perhaps divide the group up if it gets big enough.

Let's meet on Tuesday (3-25) at 5:30 at the Pachella Field Pavilion for a women's ride. The field is located at the Livzey and Henry Ave intersection.

I think my girlfriend Laura would be interested if you would be giving some instructions for beginners.  She's a solid rider on the road but lacks much trail experience.  She'd need help on log crossings and the any of the tougher rock climbing sections, but I know she'd be interested in that.

All is welcomed!  So far the majority of the women who does the rides are beginners and it is a lot of fun and much less frustrating then riding with the guys (especially the advance guys you all know who you are).

Also I have an old hardtail that is not being used and a helmet if anyone wants to try riding & don't have the equipment; just let me know.

Whoa! Kelly comes out swinging!!! Welcome to the boards. Be careful if you think riding with us is tough, this place can be brutal if you are thin skinned. Like for instance, Jesse responds that he wants to ride in the womens ride! WTF?!?!!?!?  Huh

This is awesome, have fun ladies and we'll see ya on the trails!

P.S. I will put this info on the next newsletter and try to get more ladies out for your rides.

Dmitri, I don't see the ladies ride as any different then riding with you  Cheesy

What can I say? I dig chicks, and there's a possibility I might keep up with them.

Lou - Thanks for putting this in the next newsletter!

As for instruction, I'm not too sure that I would be able to provide much as I'm still learning to get over some of the logs/rocks in the Wissahickon too. From the few rides that I went on when Laura was offering the beginner courses, I do know that the best thing for beginners is to have the group stop at more challenging features for everyone to practice. I hope to keep the women's ride low key enough that stopping to practice will be possible...unless our group gets so big that we can have a pro women's group AND a beginner's group!

See everyone on the trails!

Jesse in a skirt? You are a sick, sick man.

Have a good ride ladies!

Hey -we want the women to show up!  Having Jesse in a skirt would NOT be working towards that goal.  In fact, as the official PMBA equestrian liaison, I'm also afraid it would scare the horses.  No skirt, Jess.  Bike shorts are bad enough...

On Wednesday we had the biggest girl ride yet! Four girls! NOTE: this is not the schedule girl ride that is Tuesday's 6 PM @ the Pavilion.  Wednesday ride was also the first ride that we experience a mechanical... it become very apparent that we girls need to take some bike maintenance 101...however the guys were only a call away... first one to the scene was Chris (Mariana's AKA the ANT) he was able to fix the chain in no time... before we had a chance to head back out on the trails Tom, Jamie & Vito joined us.  It was getting late so we rode back w/ the guys.  Even with the mechanical it was a great ride.

We will also be having a girl ride at the Ralley (if anyone wants to join) more details will be posted as the date nears.
