The home page actually says it's THIS week.  The date is ABOVE the event name, which can be confusing.

Beautiful day, great riding.  Easily the best full day of riding I've had in a long while.  Thanks, Riggs, for throwing together some really nice sections.  Fun riding with everybody (once we got started!)!

Great place to ride, and Riggs showed us lots of new spots.  I hadn't seen the log pile training area (like the ones at the PMBA clinic, only much bigger) and a couple of the new log rides.  Pix are at http://picasaweb.google.com/jpearce08055/MiddleRun8_08#

Riggs/Jon,

Thanks for great ride.  It was my first time there and I really enjoyed it, definitely want to head back there soon.  That was the most riding I've done in a single day.

I think the local trail builders call that "LogZilla"

so many logs down there...to me the middle run LogZilla is that short trail that bypasses the bridge, to the berm over the log that happens to be about 8 feet or so in the air. Looked at it today. Just looked. Tongue

Kristy and I are heading down to MD/WC tomorrow for our first ride.  I wish we could have went with the group last week so we'd know more about the park, but nothing we can do about it now.

Anyone have any loop suggestions?  I will be parking in the Possum Road lot and I have a map, but I want to know if anyone has any recommendations before I map out my own loop.

Thanks!

Just a reminder for folks riding Middlerun, hunting is ALLOWED at this site, so PLEASE don't ride on Saturdays during the season. I think this weekend you're still ok, but for the next few months keep it in mind! From what I remember from last year's Sunday rides they did post signs clearly when it was unsafe (and illegal) to have bikes out. From this website I think Saturdays are good until 10/20:

http://www.destateparks.com/Activities/hunting/parklist.htm

I'll be down a few Sundays for sure Smiley

My take would be to ride up with the church on your left , bear right onto the chestnut hill connector and head on over to the judge morris /chestnut hill loop, ride back over to middle run and hang a left onto snowgoose trail as you approach the log piles, and as soon as you see them hang a right.
From there you can make a quick left into the central middle run area that has the fun goat trails.  Just remember your on a hillside, so the more sharp right turns or left turns the better. Its hard to explain, there are many options and steep fun trails.
Once you get to the the bottom of the hill, bear left, with the stream bed on your right. Look for stepping stones across the creek, cross over and make a left onto the Possum Hill trail.
Climb up, loop around, fly down a hill and look for a stream and cross over to the Double-Horseshoe trail bearing right, past a couple of bridges on your right, climb, follow this loop all the way around fly down a hill - you'll be back to where you started until you see the first bridge again.
Cross this bridge bearing right and eventually bear left towards the possum parking area, I think this is about 10-12 miles. Good luck, hope this helps.

ust a follow-up...take the prior post of 'hunting' seriously.  I've driven all the way down there to hear gun shots off in the distance and hunting signs all over the place, just to turn around and leave...

Thanks Riggs and Sara.  I will definitely take the hunting stuff serious.  I'm probably going to stop by the rangers station and make sure everything is ok before we head out.
