Pine Grove Furnace (Michaux Trip)

PMBA Sponsored, group camping trip at Pine Grove Furnace State Park, in Michaux State Forest, PA. Only about a 2 hour drive West, we have reserved Group Campground E for Friday October 19th and Saturday October 20th.
Suite riding, of many different levels. Some trails tight single track and rolly terrain and some pretty big climbs. Others more technical, rolly rock gardens. Also, a rails to trails route, and good hiking as a second option. Also, beach but probably too cold, but who knows.
We are asking for a donation of about $10 to $20 bucks to cover food, depending on how many people show, and for how many days.
Some groups are going Friday, and some Saturday. We are unfortunately limited to around 20 people or so, if you want to go, please let some one know. Also, if you have and plan on bringing camping gear, send that in your reply. If you are willing to drive, or need a ride, put that out there as well. I personally am going up Friday afternoon sometime.
Speak Up, and no wishy-washyniss!?!?!?

It looks like I will be going up on Sat morning. Who else is looking to go up Sat morning? Maybe we can meet and caravan up. I live right near the turnpike entrance at Plymouth meeting which may be a good spot to meet.

Almost forgot about carpooling. I have no confirmed passenger's yet and would like to carpool. F250 Crew cab seats 4 and their gear with room to spare. It seats six but that makes the cab kinda tight, not that it matters to me. I am also trying to go Friday if I get my ish together. I live in Roxborough 215 783 1036

I'm leaving Saturday at 9 to be riding in Michaux by 12. Returning Sunday afternoon. I've got room for a couple of people and I'm close to VG, so drop me a line if you want to come...
Don't have much in the way of camping gear except for a mini BBQ and a sun shower.

I unfortunately cannot make it this weekend. I would really love to go, but it's the g/f's B-day this weekend and I'd be in the doghouse if I went.

I'm in the Michaux Trip. I plan on bringing my own tent, stove and good cooking gear. Maybe we can all somehow coordinate on the food, etc. I would like to carpool with someone and leave Friday, I arrive back home in Media, PA around 6:00pm making it a little difficult to meet, though I can meet someone out on the turnpike at a rest stop around 7ish if that is the way to get to the campgrounds from Roxborough/Philadelphia. Tom I'll give you a call Wenesday maybe we can work something out. My number 610-209-1772. Thanks

I plan on leaving Friday as well, I can leave probably as early as 2 PM, but later if we have too. I think Krotee is coming with me, but if it makes sense, we can hop in with Tom, and pay for gas.
As for food, Heidi, Ulla and I are going to COSTCO on Thursday, we are thinking grilling food for Friday and Saturday night like Chicken, burgers, dog or sausage, and a thing of veggie burgers, but I have a dutch over as well to make vegetables, or stew or something. We are thinking coffee, fruit, oatmeal, and French Toast or Pancakes for breakfast.
Any other ideas.
Also, we need fire wood, but the state forest says due to bugs, you have to get it locally, so we will get it when we get there on Friday.

Yea we took the turnpike last time so that may work out.
I probably won't be ready to go till between 4 or 5 at the latest. Gotta finish up at work on Friday but I'm going to pack my stuff the night before.

I have at least one extra tent possibly two, so let me know if you need a tent, and it will be reserved for use.

I don't think I'll be able to leave work early on Friday, so I will most likely be the late arrival straggler on Friday night IF I can pull it off, Probably arriving at the campground after 9. I'll be leaving as early as I can, probably around 6:30 or so....

Due to thunderstorms rolling through the area on Friday, we are going to make a Friday call on whether we will go up that night, or wait until Saturday morning.
In either case, if anyone is dying to go up Friday, we have the camp ground, so no problem to go. Support crew with all the cooking and food stuff may not leave until Saturday, if it looks bad with lightening storms.
Stay tuned for updates!!!!

Weather’s not looking for tonight, currently one wave of storm over Harrisburg, the other over Ohio. We can check back around noon, but right now 9:30am, not looking good. Check weather for “Shippensburg, PA”
We have plenty of food for grilling out, and for breakfast, to include a veggie alternative.
WE DID NOT GET BEER, BRING ENOUGH FOR WHAT YOU PLAN TO DRINK, and some for me! Haha.
Also, we will probably have enough food to grill a quick lunch after our ride on Sunday, so anyone who sticks around for that ride, can eat while we break down, we have the camp ground until 3 PM.
Stay tuned

Trip was fantastic. Thanks to all who were there for the great time. The riding was good on both days. A little bit moist on Saturday which made the trails that were like a bed of pine needles a little slick, but not too bad as it was easy to predict if you were sliding out. Sunday was perfect conditions. Sun shining through the trees as they were changing colors made for incredible scenery. Leaves blowing as you glide along the singletrack....Sweet. Everyone rode strong all weekend. It was great.
We cooked on open flames and ate like kings and queens pretty much the whole time. Saturday night was a riot. Giant campfire and plenty of intellectual conversation......

Tom is correct, this trip was as perfect as could be. Besides a little too much ass humor
around the camp fire, it was a great time and fun getting to know everyone more. However the boy scout troop next to us learned some new terms that might get their mouths washout with soap... The trails were absolutely mint and we only saw one other group riding the whole time! We had the trails to ourselves. Let's do it again soon! Lou

Food, company and riding were all great. Sunday's ride was best, from the pure blue sky to the awesome terrain. I much appreciate the efforts of all the folks who made it happen and kept us fed and pampered. I'm just a little upset that I got only one cup of Jamie's homemade chili!
And not to forget another highlight; spotting Mariana's new jewelry!
