Hello everyone,
Its Dave, I am a new member and recently met a few of you at the August meeting.  The whole vibe of the group was inspiring and i am glad to join in the clubs formative years.  When the IMBA guys advised us to make sure that the club remains a club about riding it gave an idea.  I dont know if this has been brought up in the past but as a group it would be cool to reach out to other clubs in PA and host and travel to eachothers stomping grounds.  I was thinking about the Lehigh valley area clubs, the north east PA club, State College ect...  Let me know what you think.

Dave, I think that's a fantastic idea. Do you have any specif clubs/contact persons in mind? It's always easier to start that sort of connection thru friends, and not just an email or call out of the blue.

I hope our publicity guru K-man reads your post. :-)

yeah cool, you know, Krotee wants to organize a trip of some kind, and we've been discussing some local day trips as options what with all the places we have around here.

TrailSpinners down White Clay / Middle Run, gave us a $500 donation. I reckon contacting them and planning a day trip would be a great place to start.

We could also reach out to JAR.  (Jersey Action Riders)

by the way, what happened to that dude who was so helpful getting the RitV together? Haven't seen him since. We do need to step up the outreach program.

I know this is short notice but the Delaware Trail Spinners are having a work day this Saturday. I plan to go down there with my wife to help out. They do a great job on the trails down there. This would be good opportunity to make connections. Details below.

JAR has a ride schedule posted (http://www.jerseyactionriders.org/rides.htm). They are going to be at Mercer on Sunday.

Dan

Wow, I was looking for an excuse to head down to WHite CLay/Middle Run and this looks perfect. Who else wants to head down this Sat to help those people out and then tear up their trails?!?!? (Figuratively not literally!)

I would like to do that, and go for a ride too. Actually, if we could hit Iron Hill for the ride it would be a chance to preride for the MASS race. I could probably go for about an hour of TM; I don't want to get a blister or nothing.

Here are some directions to the Day Use Parking Area where the Middle Run trail work is taking place.

I'm assuming that everyone is taking 273 West to Red Mill Rd, then
make a left on Kirkwood Highway. Take a right onto Possum Park Rd
and turn right ontoPossum Hollow Rd.  If you see a sign directing you to the
TriState Bird Sanctuary, you're on the right road. Take Possum Hollow Rd about a mile
and bear left onto a gravel road into Middle Run County Park. There may
not be a sign. Follow the gravel road about a mile to the day-use parking
lot. If you come to the bird sanctuary building, you just missed the left turn.

Below is a google map link to the parking lot.

Around the holidays last year, Joe Transue (the eastern PA IMBA rep) was kicking the idea of an eastern PA mtb summit around on the  PA forums of MTBR's site.  I don't think anything formal grew out of it.  We should contact him and set a spark going about this.   Perhaps a small gathering at JT in late september, segue?
