Both Lance Armstrong and Floyd Landis have confirmed their participation in the Leadville 100 mounain bike race, held this Saturday Aug 11.  Info is at http://www.bicycling.com/article/1,6610,s1-6-12-15438-1,00.html. I don't know if this will be televised anywhere but it should capture some news coverage with those guys competing.

This could cause a jump in the popularity of Mtbing...Maybe. TV coverage would be interesting. Would they ride dualies or a hardtail? Maybe 29ers.

Don't know what they're riding these days.  Lance was sponsored by Trek when he rode for Discovery, so he may be riding some kinda carbon Fuel bike.  Landis was riding a Felt on the ride that I did with him a few weeks ago, but they have a pretty limited line of mtbs.  I'm sure that all of the mfrs want those guys riding their bikes, so we may see them on something neat.

Update - looks like Lance has cancelled.  Too bad.  There would have been a lot more publicity if he had participated

Yeah, Lance cancelled again.  This was a story in today's Denver Post, which was later than the Sunday story on bicycling.com that said that he WAS going to ride.  Looks like he can't make up his mind - either that or he keeps getting better offers.  It's rumored on the BCP message list that he's dating someone in Valley Forge and has been sighted on his bike on the Schulkyll River Trail.  Gee - if that's true, he might like to ride at Wiss!

Re biking with Landis - golly, I guess I DID mention doing that, didn't I...  It was a small (100 cyclists) ride from the bike shop in Ephrata where he got his first sponsorship for mtb racing.  They did a 20-mile ride through Lancaster County and then had an autograph session at the bike shop.  Pretty cool.  Proof is at http://picasaweb.google.com/jpearce08055/RidingWithFloydLandis

Lance riding at Wiss. That would be sweet. Wonder if he's heard of PMBA. Probably not.

i did read something recently about lance getting lost in the west chester area recently and hooking up with some group ride to get him back to his "girlfriend's parents house."

so seems that the BCP message confirms the sightings.

Yup - here's the story:  http://geronimok.blogspot.com/2007/05/famous-guy-in-west-chester.html  Wonder if there's any way to let him know about us.
