We will have various groups with different abilities from beginner to advanced and a post ride BBQ at the pavilion which we have reserved for this event. Good times. Please go into the events list and register if you plan to attend. Just check and click More details will be posted as we get it together. Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Kman on July 24, 2008, 10:43:13 AM You bring up a great point Lust,it's not clear on the front home page that a person should confirm if they are going to attend an event. The front page should have some language to encourage registering to attend an Upcomming event.
Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Kevin on July 24, 2008, 10:53:51 AM Im in. looking forward to it.
Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: bonkers on July 24, 2008, 06:36:45 PM will there be another demo2 clinic going on for this??
Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: jpearce on July 24, 2008, 10:41:53 PM Yeah, there will be another set of clinics and we have more time to prepare so we'll have an even better event.
Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: fightnut on July 25, 2008, 12:14:25 AM I'm looking forward to this, sounds like I really missed a good time last time. Not sure which clinic I'll do yet, but I'll be there for one of them.
Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: DannyC21 on July 25, 2008, 10:09:58 AM This is insane. Monday I finally get back to work after having my surgery a couple of weeks ago, and I'm excited about having the next month completely free and getting back to normal. On this same day I learn about the bike clinic and I'm stoked because I've had to miss the last two.
Then I get home and check the mail. I notice a letter from my fiance's grandparents. Her great step-grandfather (I guess thats how it works with divorced grandparents) is turning 90 in August and there throwing him a surprise party...ON AUGUST 10!!! In LONG ISLAND, NY! >:( So far we haven't decided if we are going because my fiance is also excited about this clinic. I'm crossing my fingers we can visit another weekend... :-\ Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Rico on July 25, 2008, 10:51:43 AM I am out too, as I am banned from bike until after the wedding (less than a month away). >:(
I guess she doesn't want me coming down the aisle on crutches, or with a massive bandage wrapped around my head. :P Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Kman on July 25, 2008, 11:05:07 AM damn we are taking casualties!! :P
Excuse one, I accidentally got on the BQE and got stuck in traffic. RICO that's a tough one, ? Banned until marriage?! Tell her you love her, but love riding bikes more, she will understand. ::) Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: mtrostle on July 25, 2008, 02:04:34 PM I am out too, as I am banned from bike until after the wedding (less than a month away). >:( I guess she doesn't want me coming down the aisle on crutches, or with a massive bandage wrapped around my head. :P Dude, I've been in that exact same spot, but for other reasons. I cracked 3 ribs about 6 weeks before my wedding. Nasty endo that ended after 3 barrel rolls down hill. My body felt like it was impaled on the end of my handle bar. Tried to hide it from the wife, till she saw the bruising when I was getting dressed. Soon to be wife almost become never to be wife if I hadn’t chosen wisely to not ride till after the honeymoon…..:o Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: FletcherStinks on July 25, 2008, 02:35:52 PM I am out too, as I am banned from bike until after the wedding (less than a month away). >:( I guess she doesn't want me coming down the aisle on crutches, or with a massive bandage wrapped around my head. :P Or you could just man up and tell her "I'm gonna ride". Is she gonna call off the wedding if you ride? No. And if she does you'll have all the time in the world to ride. It's win, win. Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Rico on July 25, 2008, 03:02:20 PM The being banned was sarcasm, she would prefer me not to be injured for the wedding and honemoon.
Danny knows what I am talking about. ;D I will get a ride or two in, but aside from the "request" I got not to ride, work has been a biotch latetly. I have been working 12 hours days and i am even going in for a few hours tomorrow. We have the annual audit in three weeks and I have a ton to do before that, and the rest of the wedding prep. Plus my wedding and honeymoon fall right in the middle of the audit, so that puts more pressure on me. Okay, okay, enough bitchin', whinin', and complainin' on my part. .....end rant. Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Kman on July 25, 2008, 03:46:11 PM Hmmm, tell the aditors to wait because your riding Mt.Bikes, then thell know your honest.
Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: FletcherStinks on July 25, 2008, 04:25:08 PM Hmmm, tell the aditors to wait because your riding Mt.Bikes, then thell know your honest. We speak one language. English. Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Rico on July 25, 2008, 04:33:28 PM Hmmm, tell the aditors to wait because your riding Mt.Bikes, then thell know your honest. Obviously your fingers are too fat to try and type on your iPhone. I suggest waiting until you get home, in front of your computer to respond to all posts. :P Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Lust4singletrack on July 25, 2008, 10:57:52 PM Rico
Tell her if she does not let you ride she'll be the one in bandages. ;) Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Rico on July 26, 2008, 10:00:41 AM Rico Tell her if she does not let you ride she'll be the one in bandages. ;) Hahahahaha! Good one.....why don't you tell her. ;) Only kidding....that was funny. ;D Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: FletcherStinks on July 26, 2008, 11:26:58 AM Rico Tell her if she does not let you ride she'll be the one in bandages. ;) You could also say "I'm not stopping you from doing the dishes, the cleaning and cooking, so don't tell me that I can't ride." ;D Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: DannyC21 on July 28, 2008, 09:53:18 AM Anyone have any advice on how to get out of going to your Wifes/Gf/Fiances great grandfathers 90th bday party?
I recieved the old guilt trip this weekend: "We have to go because what happens if he doesn't make it to 91?" It was a tough response to repel. I really don't want to drive to Long Island on a Sunday and I don't want to go 0-3 on these clinics. Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Lust4singletrack on July 28, 2008, 10:29:48 AM Ooooo. That's a tough one. Set your car on fire. Then you can't drive to Long Island!
Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Rico on July 28, 2008, 11:23:49 AM I would say, "Well he IS 90, we've already been to plenty of his birthdays."
Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: DannyC21 on July 28, 2008, 11:40:27 AM Quote Ooooo. That's a tough one. Set your car on fire. Then you can't drive to Long Island! She'll probably make me ride my bike there. I'd have legs of steel after that ride. Quote I would say, "Well he IS 90, we've already been to plenty of his birthdays." Actually he hasn't had a birthday party since his 80th, and I wasn't seeing my fiance then. So I'm SOL on that one. Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Kman on July 28, 2008, 11:45:09 AM My fingers are too fat for this farkin phone, just say you got stuck in traffic of the wrong exit...
Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: mtrostle on July 28, 2008, 11:49:04 AM Dude, bite the bullet and take one for the team. Trust me, it'll make things better in the long run ;) Especailly when it comes time to collect on browny points. Clinics are always going to be around. You can just post up that you want to learn some pointers from a few experienced riders and I'm sure they'll respond with a "when and where".................

Yea I know your right (I just haven't been riding in weeks and that is the first weekend that I'll be cleared to go from the doc, so it kind of bites that I'll be away.) Plus, her grandfather has a house in the White Mountains in New Hampshire, and I plan on crashing there for Labor Day weekend to ride. Probably shouldn't piss him off. Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Lust4singletrack on July 28, 2008, 01:00:06 PM Quote I plan on crashing there for Labor Day weekend to ride. Probably shouldn't piss him off. Yea you better go. We'll have more clinics for sure. Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: mtrostle on July 28, 2008, 01:17:47 PM Always the voice of reason. Damn, I hate being the voice of reason!!!!!!! Makes me feel like "The Grey Man", and I'm only 34. But, after being with my girl for 13 years I've made my share of good and bad choices :o, so learn wisely young grasshopper! Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: DannyC21 on July 28, 2008, 02:04:41 PM Quote so learn wisely young grasshopper Why thank you Mr. Miyagi. :D I'll be sure to get out and ride everyday that week when I get back. Wiss look out! Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Rico on July 28, 2008, 02:49:20 PM Always the voice of reason. Damn, I hate being the voice of reason!!!!!!! Well, when I read what happened to you, I could see that happening to me. I already have to hide my riding bruises, from her. :D Plus I don't want to have to worry about dealing with injuries on my honeymoon. :-\ Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: DannyC21 on July 28, 2008, 03:05:18 PM Quote Plus I don't want to have to worry about dealing with injuries on my honeymoon. Yea dude that would be terrible. I know someone who recently got married and broke his leg a week before the wedding. They weren't able to go on their honeymoon (lost all the money because they took out no insurance on it), and lets just say the Mrs. was not thrilled. Not the best way to start a marriage. Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: fightnut on August 03, 2008, 05:58:53 PM Is it 4 clinics, like the last one? Just trying to figure out which one to tag along on.
Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Lust4singletrack on August 03, 2008, 09:29:35 PM Quote Is it 4 clinics, like the last one? Just trying to figure out which one to tag along on. Good question, we are sorting it out now and hope to have it all figured out by tommorow. It will probably be the same sort of format. At least a beginner, intermediate/expert, and a girls ride. The girls ride will be beginner to intermediate. If you're a total newbie and you happened to be a girl you may be better in the beginner group. Also worth noting this update if it has not been announced yet. We have secured Jan to cook for the post ride BBQ. Jan is a BBQ champion and his food is no joke. BBQ is for supporting members only. If you have not joined up yet there will be forms available. Good times. Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: jpearce on August 03, 2008, 09:34:21 PM Not "beginner" because there really aren't any "beginner" areas at Wiss. More of an "Intro to Wiss" ride to show off the less technical areas.
Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Kman on August 03, 2008, 10:15:47 PM Absolutely, getting back to riding, beginning to ride the Wiss. for the 1st time. Wiss. has no novice dept.
K Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Lust4singletrack on August 04, 2008, 07:12:24 AM There's been a slight change: Our girl ride will also welcome "intro" riders as well as beginner and intermediate. This means it is an all levels ride.

Special thanks to those who helped lead rides and to Jan for the awesome pulled pork. It was a pleasure, and it get's easier each time so we'll do it again I'm sure. Too bad about the rain but we made the best of it. Good times. Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: crabapple hits on August 10, 2008, 10:00:06 PM Tom - that was your 1000th post - we should have another party!

Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: Riggs on August 10, 2008, 11:39:08 PM I missed everyone had to go to Deep Creek Maryland to attend a family event... waaaaaaaaaa!!! sniff sniff ::) Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: mtrostle on August 11, 2008, 12:03:50 AM Good times by all!! Thanks to PMBA and the board for having another kick ass event. I didn't even mind the rain and slop. The wife wasn't too keen on the dirt I dragged into the house, but that's waht we have dust pans for ;D
I'd be interested in an advance clinic for TTF's over at Belmont next time around? Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: fishnchips on August 11, 2008, 12:11:31 AM Can anyone explain: Log: 1 Pinky: 0 please... The young lady busted her finger on that log which was sticking out somewhere and had caught others in the past. Some trail fairies took revenge. Wow. Do I ever shut up! I notice my rating has changed from addict to Jedi. When do I get my Light Saber? Could come in handy when cutting log rides. Title: Re: Beginners Clinic Post by: epic rider on August 11, 2008, 09:45:30 PM thanks to Rob and Karl for a good ride & helpful information, first time down the Coyle Trail, think I found a new favorite section
