or maybe we could just meet up with them and ride sometime. ;) Title: Re: craigslist SS MTB team posting Post by: chunter on February 23, 2007, 02:39:46 PM I sent the guy an e-mail and told him to come to the PMBA site and join up. he can certainly solicit people for a bike racing team here. He's looking for only 29" guys too. Max that's right up your alley.

Title: Re: craigslist SS MTB team posting Post by: HomegrownSS on February 27, 2007, 06:50:45 PM kona kula 2-9...already have the frame, fork, and misc other parts. should be ready in a week or three!
Title: Re: craigslist SS MTB team posting Post by: Dmitri on February 27, 2007, 09:19:43 PM Last night I was thinking if there was a scandium 29er, no EBB, but convertible gears or SS... And decided there wasn't any.
This afternoon I was driving and it came to me "Kona Kula 2-9!!!" I just read a review of it on twentynineinches.com and they had nothing but good things to say! Title: Re: craigslist SS MTB team posting Post by: HomegrownSS on February 28, 2007, 09:39:51 AM ya im not a big fan of the EBB so the kula fits into my agenda quite well. the only problem i have with it is the paint job...uggghh
if you're interested in picking one up better act fast because kona only has larger sizes left in the completes, not sure of the availibility of the frames though, but i imagine they are on their way out also. Title: Re: craigslist SS MTB team posting Post by: Dmitri on February 28, 2007, 03:04:04 PM No need for it right now.
I was just thinking of potential builds for different purposes and people. I personally would build up a steel frame. But in case the weight was an issue, to preserve power to weight ratio, saving ~2 lbs with scandium vs. steel without loosing too much of steel's compliance for aluminum's harshness, would be a good thing. Why do you say to snatch it now, do you know if Kona is discontinuing this frame or if it'll be in production in the future? The only other two scandium 29ers that I know off are Niner Air9 - EBB, and On One Scandal - geared only... Not a huge selection. dz Title: Re: craigslist SS MTB team posting Post by: lanceh on March 01, 2007, 09:12:34 PM was just looking at it on kona's site. looks good other than the pretty powder blue paint job. the seat tube angle is way steep.
Title: Re: craigslist SS MTB team posting Post by: HomegrownSS on March 01, 2007, 10:18:50 PM ya one of the reasons i opted for the kona is the head tube angle. a bit steeper than most manufactorers are using...good for them belmont like areas. plus the rigid fork will probably drop the front end down a lil bit giving me a touch steeper head tube. nice and whippy i hope, considering the ride im used to!
