Title: Team In Training Post by: mtrostle on February 08, 2008, 11:39:53 AM Yo PMBA members, just wanted to say how proud I am to be a member of our group and how much of an impact you’re making on all who ride and utilize the hidden gems in the Philly Mt. bike scene.
I recently signed up with Team in Training to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to combat blood cancers (Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and Myeloma). Biking (Mt. and road) has made such a positive impact on my life that I’ve decided to participate in a century (Seagull Century) on October 4th, 2008. The reason why I’m compelled to participate is because I’m a survivor of cancer (Hodgkin’s Disease) and this is my way of giving back to an organization that has helped save my life. I’m asking for your help by making a tax deductible donation to achieve my assigned goal and make a difference in the lives of those who are battling blood cancers. No matter what type of riding we do, or where we ride, we all have been touched by cancer at one time or another. Attached below is a link to my website with a brief bio, the cause I’m riding for and options for donations. Please pass along it along to friends, family and loved ones. Every amount changes lives and helps keep dreams alive, I’m living proof……. Thank you and I’ll see you on the trails. Keep the rubber side down!!! http://www.active.com/donate/tntepa/tntepaMTrostl Title: Re: Team In Training Post by: mtrostle on March 07, 2008, 02:46:32 PM http://www.active.com/donate/tntepa/tntepaMTrostl (http://www.active.com/donate/tntepa/tntepaMTrostl)
bump........... Due to my wife and I expecting our first child in June I decided to change Century rides. June 1st around Lake Tahoe made her a bit nervous with the due date being June 21st. So I switched to doing the Seagull Century in Salisbury, Md. Won't be as scenic as Lake Tahoe, but it's still for a good cause!!!! To those who have contributed I say thank you. Your dontations will help change lives To those thinking about donating, please do so. Being a survivor of cancer I know first hand how your efforts effect the lives of those battleing blood cancers. Thank you and as always, please pass this link along to those interested in contributing. Any questions please feel free to contact me. -M http://www.active.com/donate/tntepa/tntepaMTrostl (http://www.active.com/donate/tntepa/tntepaMTrostl) Title: Re: Team In Training Post by: fishnchips on March 07, 2008, 03:12:32 PM congrats on the upcoming kid. And when is the Seagull Century?
Title: Re: Team In Training Post by: mtrostle on March 07, 2008, 03:15:38 PM Sorry man, thought I included the date in the edit!!! The Seagull Century is is October 4th...............
Title: Re: Team In Training Post by: Lou on March 07, 2008, 09:22:48 PM Congrats man! That's good stuff. Hey does it matter when we make a donation, being that the event is in October? Just curious. I have a nice tax refund in the works... ;D
Title: Re: Team In Training Post by: mtrostle on March 07, 2008, 11:30:15 PM Congrats man! That's good stuff. Hey does it matter when we make a donation, being that the event is in October? Thanks for the congratulations guys. Elizabeth (my wife) and I were joking the other day that we're breeding swimers and mt. bikers ;D Gotta keep the numbers going!!! I need to have my funds in by late May. Long story, but due to the rules and events, I still have to stay on the time table for my orginal event that was suppose to be June 1st. It has to due with TNT & LLS being a non profit and the ending of the fiscal year. They couldn't move the money I raised to date from one event to the other. Big brother doesn't like it when you play with numbers and move them around!! I'm raising money for the end of this fiscal year, yet participating in an event for the next fiscal year. In the end it all goes to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and that's all that really matters........... Title: Re: Team In Training Post by: Lisa on March 15, 2008, 09:56:12 PM Good luck to you on your century ride and in raising money for such a great cause (my mother was not a survivor - unfortunately). I just made a donation.
Congrats also on expecting your first baby! Don't expect to get out to ride as much after that as I'm sure you know. :) Lisa (mom of 10 mo old twins, one named Elizabeth!) Title: Re: Team In Training Post by: mtrostle on March 17, 2008, 09:34:15 PM Lisa, thank you for your donation, as it does go to a good cause. I'm sorry to hear about your mother. If you'd like to pm me her name, I'd be honored to add it to my list of names that I'll be riding in honor of.
Thank you on the congratulatuions for our baby. We managed to dodge the "twins bullet" as they do run in both our families. I think one is going to be a handful, as I'm sure you're well aware of with having 2!!!! Expecting a very busy and sleepless summer.............but looking forward to the times to come ;D Title: Re: Team In Training Post by: mtrostle on June 02, 2008, 07:01:42 PM http://www.active.com/donate/tntepa/tntepaMTrostl
One last bump and I'll go away!!! I figured I needed to dust this off the shelf get back on the ball. Didn't realize how much a wife's pregnancy would consume so much time getting the house ready :o At least I've still found time to ride early in the mornings when she's asleep ;D Some of you mentioned wanted to wait till after tax season to donate or just needed extra time. Those who have donated thank you very much, those who still would like to donate, please do so. Again, thank you all!!!!!!!!!! http://www.active.com/donate/tntepa/tntepaMTrostl
