Title: Volunteers needed for Trail User Survey
Post by: ChrisB on September 12, 2007, 06:59:35 AM
The Fairmount Park Commission is looking for three to four volunteers
to help conduct a survey of trail users this Saturday the 15th from
 12:00pm -2:00pm

Basically, we will be asking a series of 7 questions to bikers, walkers,
joggers, and/or other (rollerbladers, etc.), and also taking a count of
all trail users.

We will be setting up on Kelly Drive in front of Lloyd Hall.

The Schuylkill River Heritage Association will provide signs, water for
those surveyed, etc.  Instructions will be provided.  Each volunteer
gets a pretty snazzy Schuylkill River Trail t-shirt as well (it surprisingly
has no corporate sponsorship on the back or anything--just the SRT logo on
the front)

The info will be given to the Schuylkill River Heritage Association and
will be entered into a database along with all other info gathered
nationally that week. It will be used to help gauge how heavily trails
are used. This type of info has not been gathered before on a large scale
and can be useful in proving a need for future trail systems.
