SEPT 27th, RIDE IS ON! I plan to start out around 5 and meet everyone there at 6, and ride until dark... Cheers!

10/24/06 ride canceled due to rain. I'm gonna head out tommorow if it's dry enough.

11/13/2007 I have to travel for work again and cannot make it this week. Last weeks ride was awesome.  Hopefully someone else can step up and lead. Have a good ride.

Ya'll riding at 7:00p from Livezy? If so, what route are you taking? I may be able to ride or at least intercept at some point...

I had an AWESOME ride until my pedal broke off 1/2 mile into it... DOH!

It's too bad you had to bail Lou. We had a great ride in the snow. It slows you down a little bit but it's fun. We fell a lot. Nothing too bad though mostly slow speed sliders. There was one were I was sliding sideways right at a tree and almost T-boned it. I ended up off trail and down a sideslope. Good times.

One word of advice, learn how to ride on flat pedals if you are going out in the snow. It's better cause cleats get clogged very easy in the snow. Forgot to swap my pedals and was fighting with the clipless (spd).

12/12/2007 It may be too wet to ride tonight. I tried to ride last night and had to bail because it was like peanut butter.

Yeah I took a look at the trails on the southwest end of the park last night, and they are very messy and not for riding. They're going to need at *least* 2-3 solid days with zero precipitation of any kind before they're ok again and unfortunately I don't think those days are to come in the near future.

I brought my road bike (fixed gear) to work today in Bala Cynwyd and am riding Kelly drive after work and probably around the city, stopping for something to eat like a sandwich, whatever.  I get out of work at 4 and am usually riding by 4:20 or so.  If anyone wants to join me let me know.  I could leave here and ride toward Manayunk to meet up with anyone.

By the way I really like this fixed gear and it's great cross training.  I've only been out on it 4-5 times and I already notice that on the mountain bike I switch gears less and work through stuff, and climb easier.  Also, it teaches you to pedal in a circle more.  Great for this time of year when the trails are wet.  And the bikes don't cost that much either.  Plus, the whole simplicity of it is so cool...so much flow and zen to the ride.  You don't even know there is a drive train, it's like you are the wheel.  No noise, direct connection.  Hard to describe unless you do it.  But I like....

Sometimes we will plan urban assault rides on our mountainbikes when the trails are a mess. Can be fun finding cool gaps and staircases around the city. There's one parking garage where you can take the elevator up and bomb down the spiral ramp nonstop, leaning into the curves. Good times. I don't own any road bikes and I really don't plan on buying one any time soon. If I could commute to work that would be sweet but until then it's mountainbikes only in my garage.

So looks like tonights wiss ride is off. I'm gonna work on the house and get ready for the party this weekend.

12/19/2007 Good ride tonight. I love night riding but can't wait for spring. Biggest reason is the wetness. The trails on the southwest corner of the park (Roxy side) are pretty moist not good for users. Not terrible but definetely not good. The trails on the east side (Mount Airy) are drier as usual and good for all users. If your gonna head out to the trail you may wanna stick to that side of the park.

Great ride last night. For those of you new to the trails we rode they are the less traveled black diamond trails of wiss. Skillz.

We got to ride in the snow for a little bit tonight. It was short and sweet. Trails are mint at the moment.

I have to start at 5 tonight. I will be udating the time on this ride soon, and will probably move to it to 5. I'd update it now but am currently unable to log in.

If you're going to move yours to 5, I'll move mine to 6:30 for now until the deer curfew is lifted.  That will make sure we have two opportunities for everyone.

Good idea.  I hope to make some of these (the later rides) soon.

the deer curfew and weather have stalled this "group" ride from the get-go but now that weather and light are less of an issue we should be able to get a group going.  Next week should defenitely be a go if someone wants to update the time on the front page for me.

Durb, you want 6:30 right? I'm changing it now but let me knwo if it needs to be something else.

Ahhh hump day. Awesome ride today. We even got to ride with the girls group for a bit after our hammer fest on lower techy. Good times.

Insane ride on lower techy - and Jeremy you did well. Sorry I had to barrel ahead as the wife had a meeting and I had to get home for my daughter... best of both world's!

What was that? You guys rode like girls yesterday? That's no surprise  8)

4/15 Please note that I've change the time to 530 to better suit the group....and maybe give me time to cut my grass. It grew like a foot in two days! Sheesh.

Tom just do what I do & keep riding over your lawn untill turns brown & dies off.  Have I told you my neighbors love me?  :)

Yep 530. We switch up the route to keep it interesting, but I usually try to hit the more technical trails. Since I won't be here, you guys can go wherever you want.

hmmm, go to my mba finance class with a dry teacher or go ride...decisions decisions. 

Thanks for giving us permission to go wherever we want.

I'm out today. Have to do some trail work. Anyone else want to lead this ride let me know.

I need to move my ride up tonight to accomodate one of my buddies who usually rides with us so we'll just try to be at the Livezy pavillion around 5:30 and whoever shows up can ride with us.

Jeremy, I think you put the hex on me :).  Just after that nice stretch we were talking about by the farm school, my deraileur hanger broke along w/my chain...that's why I dropped off.  Had to take 10 inches off the chain and single-speed it home.

Yea... my bad luck has been known to get stuck to other people. I ended up getting a flat, 3rd one in a week and a half.

We were wondering what happened to you John! We thought maybe you just rode home when we did not see you at Livezey. Bummer.

That was a great ride.

sorry about that John, I figured you bailed home somewhere as it wasn't far from the end. That ride just got faster and faster...

yeah, that was a good ride ~ looking for a repeat again on Wed.   i called about 8 LBS and finally someone has a hanger for me.

Cancel this week due to weather. Bummer.
