What a great day. The total footage of the new trail is @ 165 feet. All the dips and turns added nearly a hundred feet to the old trail which was closed beautifully. Thanks everyone for the nice work. We still need to try and figure on the number of volunteers and man hours. Stay tuned for that info.

Big thanks to Lebus for the food. Delicious. I can't get enough of it. Also thanks to High Point cafe for the coffee.

Very Big thanks to FOW for their continued support and helping to make this work possible. ;D

Absolutely awesome work day!
I could not even start thanking everybody for the effort, time, sweat, and dedication put in!

Thank you all volunteers! Everyone worked so hard andit showed at the end. PMBA really appreciates your help! Unfortunately, we did not perform as well at signing everyone in and out, and as a result do not have an accurate count of volunteer/hours put into this project this Saturday.
In order to correct this shortcoming and maintain an accurate record of everyones effort, could you please email to tmday@comcast.net your name and time when you were there. If you brought a friend or a significant other and they helped along, would you pass the word to them to email the info, or include their info in your message.

Once again, outstanding effort and as a result w have a great new trail.

Thank you all the sponsors, LeBus bakery, High Point Cafe and FOW!

Pictures are at http://picasaweb.google.com/jpearce08055/PMBAWorkDay6_07

Feel free to add comments, particularly if names are incorrect or missing, or if my explanations of what's happening are wrong.  I tried to structure them so that viewers would see a story of the project, and I tried to explain what was going on and why.

Title: Re: PMBA TM Day in Wissahickon June 23rd 9:00 AM -- Great work day!!!

Our web people are away, and we can't post a big "Success!!!" article on the front page, however we didn’t want to wait to thank you everyone who participated and helped out in other ways. Hopefully, everyone will see this post. If you know anyone who was there or might be interested but is not on the website yet, please, spread the word!

PMBA members and supporters had participated in numerous official and unofficial Trail Maintenance days since the inception of the club last fall. We attended in force several FOW work days, as well as the National Trails Day earlier this month. However this was the first PMBA organized Trail Maintenance Day. We do have to thank FOW and FPC for their support, help in working out logistics, technical consulting help, as well as the volunteers affiliated with them.

More thanks are in order to our sponsors, the LeBus Bakery and High Point Cafe!

But the biggest thank you goes out to all the volunteers, who showed up in great numbers, full of enthusiasm and energy ready to work hard and make this somewhat ambitious project a reality. We are still collecting all the names of everyone who was there (if you were and not sure that your time has been accounted for, please, drop a line to tmday@comcast.net with your name and times you got there and left). But we already have more than 30 confirmed volunteers logging in about 150 man/hours! Huge, huge thank you to all of you!!!

According to Tom Coyle's measurements the new trail section is approximately 165' long, which lengthened old, straight, fall line trial by nearly 100'! This is a small but nice unexpected bonus! Our goal was to replace the eroding fall line trail with a sustainable section, but it seems that we did more than that. So far, everyone who had ridden that new section reported it to be challenging and fun, which is exactly what we want to hear. Making the trails in Wissahickon sustainable without loosing the challenge and fun factors!!!

There is some rain in the forecast this week. It is will be very exciting to see how the new trail holds up to the rain. We have all confidence that it will do as well as the other section we rebuilt earlier in this month during the National Trails Day.

Once again, thank you to everyone who showed up and helped out!!! We hope to see you all and many more volunteers next month!
