Post your weekly Thursday rides here....

The Philly Freeriders ad-hoc group meets at 5:45 (wheels out at 6) at Valley Green every Thursday night, weather permitting.  We're mostly cross-country riders, slightly aging, but with a few seriously good riders.  If you come out, look for Gerry (tall, skinny guy with a Rocky Mountain or singlespeed), Jess (slightly large guy with a Specialized FSR) or me (tall, with a matte black helmet on a blue Santa Cruz Superlight).  Or look for Donna, Erin or Krysia (Lisa is on maternity leave) - we have some great women riders too.  There are some pictures of us in the PMBA gallery that may help you to identify us more easily.

Looks like wed is a washout. I'm going out tomorrow to try and prepare myself for the @sswhooping I am going to recieve at Granogue. Leaving my house at 530. Can be at Valley Green 5 minutes later if anyone wants to meet there. Middle of the pack (on a good day) sport rider pace.

Me and one or two other guys are meeting at 4pm at the Rittenhouse Town parking lot. (Parallel to Lincoln Drive) Moderate pace

Might be able to make it to the park with a buddy around 5:30-ish

Maybe I will bump into you guys. If have an 85 mile MS road ride on Saturday (if weather permits), if I am not too chewed, maybe see you at race Sunday

I'll swing by the inn. If I don't see anyone, I'm thinking of going up Wises mill and heading counterclockwise. Stating on the demo trail. Have a good ride.

Sorry Tom, I was runnign late, tried to call you, but to no avail. I got to the inn just after 6, went chasing you, but never found where you were.

Funny, I was probably behind you by that time. Almost did a full lap, took one shortcut. Trails were perfect.

I rolled down forbidden to the Bells Mill crossing, climbed up to the top of monster and stood there for maybe 10-15 minutes BSing with another rider. You never showed up. Oh well, another time.

I descended the monster and made my way past the Indian and over to the inn, but didn't see you.   

The Monster is the part I shortcut. Wan not up for that one. I dropped in at the red bridge and cut across to the other side.

Hey Nallen, glad to see you made it over to the forum. I guess I was convincing enough.

Tom, I suspected you might've done sometihng like that, I knew your tendency to figure-8 the park. Oh well. No biggie. We all had good rides, even if not together.

We've got our regular group ride tonight, June 28th, wheels out from VG at 6pm, rain permitting.

I may be out there, but cannot make it at 6.  If I go out to VG, will be closer to 6:30 maybe I'll see some you out there.

im up to ride tommorow if anyone is going out. VGI meet up i guess?

cool, again same invite here. We got rained out last week. But wheels out 6pm at VG. the famous Lisa Coyle will be out for the first time in 10 months, and we'll have a few newbies with any luck too. Should be at least two different paced groups.

Plus there are many other groups out on Thursdays and even if you're late try and crash another party. And the Belmont thing is that night too, which we plan to check out sometime this summer.

no prob. Just bring your helmet. And I trust you have a bike that didn't come from Walmart...

i wear helmet, gloves , camelback anyway. As for now i can keep up,  diamond back for now my Trek is coming 3 weeks or so

Me and Lou tried to race the storm today...we lost. :-\

I rode the IMBA demo trail from Wises Mill Rd to VG and back for a little over an hour.  Took a nice spill off one of the jumps.  At least I tried it.  ;D

Way to go Rico; glad you gave it a shot. I was just about to get ready when the storm hit. Just as well; still hurting from my last spill.

Yea, we were close but got completely drenched. My stuff needed washing anyway, and it was actually pretty fun being out there in the downpour... Hey Rico, you gotta take your hits if you wanna learn!  Keep it up :o

We have the regular Thursday ride headed out from Valley Green at 6pm. Helmets mandatory and rain cancels. I'll be leaving from my place around 5 so if anyone wants to go earlier let me know.  I'll pick up with the regular group at 6.

We'll get down to Belmont one Thursday later this summer.

As usual, the regular Thursday ride will leave from VG area at about 6 PM tonight.  All levels are welcome - even newbies, of which we've had a few in the last few weeks.

As my work softball league is coming to an end tonight, I need to get my newbie a$$ out to one of these rides sometime in August.

Jon - where do you park?  Just wondering due to the previous threads here and on mtbr.com about the car break-ins.

Rico - sorry I missed your email last week.  I park in the lot off of Henry Ave and Wises Mill Rd, not the one in front of Valley Green Inn.  That's because it's more convenient for me, not because I think it's safer.  I just try to follow normal precautions about leaving things visible in the car.  I also stow stuff before I get there, since the thieves who broke into Bob's daughter's car apparentely saw her put her purse in her trunk.

Regular Thursday ride out of VG at 6pm. But check this, Donna M and I are going to be heading to the Wiggard Rd. entrance at 5pm for some intermediate skills work.

Wiggard is one stop north of Livezy just past the fields. It's where the Boy Scouts entrance is, and it leads in right to the demo trail directly above Valley Green.

Wiggard trail has some rocks and a few small logs we can pull out to practice on. What we'll have is a half-mile loop that scoots down the demo trail jumps, onto the rolley part for a bit, then left onto the wiggard trail for the logs. We can ride the whole thing back and forth or just loop up to the fields for easy recovery and keep hitting the demo hill jumps going down hill.

It will be a good confidence builder for intermediate riders, but if any of your experts or crazies want to come out and offer pointers, please do.

Maybe I will do a 4pm ride and meet up with you there. How late did you guys stay out?

I'll try to get there a little early and meet up with you guys.  I can use the practice, plus it's fun riding with Donna!

I'll be starting from stables on northwestern at around 5-ish and then heading up the indian side to VG, i will cross over at VG and climb up to look for you around Demo trail. Some skillz work sounds like fun!!!

yo Saw,  we did that trail down Lincoln Drive which was cool. Road the path back then up the single track and back along the same trail toward the pavilion. Riders bailed at their respective places.

I have no idea what happened with your endo incident because I was about a mile back.

It looks like some rain is going  (http://wcau.weatherplus.com/wxmap/4290905/detail.html) to blow through soon. Hopefully the park will dry out before 5.
