PMBA Fall Party AFTERMATH Print E-mail
Lou and Paul Harris hosted the First PMBA Fall Party on Saturday 9/15. The weather was perfect, beer-wine and hard liquor were flowing, and tons of good food was devoured by this hungry crowd. Thanks to everyone who came out and pitched in a helping hand. Good times!

BIKE PHILLY EVENT Print E-mail
Bike Philly was an event to promote bicycling in Philadelphia, and 2,300 bicyclists showed up to ride and support! Several PMBA members were Volunteers and assisted in making the event a success! There was wide news coverage and two PMBA executives made the news. By all accounts it was a memorable inaugural Bike Philly.

Also, two Bicycle Coalition members made a jersey to promote Biking in Philly and they included our logo. These high quality jerseys come in 3 different cuts: Race Cut (a more fitted style), Club Cut (relaxed fit) or Women’s Cut. We get $5 for every jersey they sell to PMBA members before September 15, and it is discounted from $75 to $65. After that we only get $2.50, and it will cost $75. Got to this website for ordering info, and please tell them you are a PMBA member:

Wissahickon: Sustainable Trails Initiative Demo Project #2 Print E-mail

Thanks to the FOW, between August 1-10, the Sustainable Trails Initiative Demo Project #2 was completed by the IMBA Trail Solutions crew, Rich and Dan, and countless PMBA volunteers! The project is on the trail which goes right next to the huge Indian statue near Rex Ave. Major improvements were done and this trail is now built to sustainable standards. Whether going up hill or down hill, this newly designed trail is fun and extremely challenging. PMBA trail volunteers gained lots of valuable experience from the IMBA guys. These two guys are extremely knowlegable and we plan to utilize the experience we gained from them on other trail projects in the near future.

July 28 Trail Maintenance Day in the Wiss Print E-mail

Our July TMD in the Wissahickon, sponsored by FOW, was once again a huge success. We went back and reworked a couple areas that we thought we fixed back on July 14. Mother Nature unleashed a major downpour the week prior and washed away all of the soil we replaced and some of the rocks. However most of our rock armoring held up! But this made us realize that until PennDOT and PWD address the water dumping issue from Henry Ave, we had better beef up our work with a lot of BFR's. On Saturday July 28, 29 members came out to help and we moved a lot of big f... rocks up from the stream bed and placed them in the "french drains" along the trail. Check out this photo album which documents our work. Thanks so much to everyone who participated. We are really making our mark in the Wissahickon!

Another successful FOW-PMBA trail project Print E-mail

Yet again, PMBA members joined FOW volunteers to rebuild a section of eroded trail on Sat 7/14 in the Wissahickon Park. This was right near where Gorgas Lane passes under Henry Ave. Go check it out! Click Here to View the Gallery.

We also presented the FOW with a $600 check from the Rally in the Valley event! Good stuff.
