Bridge Building,    Trail Restoration, and Trash Clean-UpYellow Trail by Gorgas Ln.Saturday, December 89 am to 2 pm Another big work day in the park is planned for December 8th!  Food and hot drinks will be provided!  RSVP to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it or 215.247.0417. Bridge building: Ed Stainton, FOW Structures Crew Leader, will lead a rebuild of a footbridge just uphill from our July work site on the Yellow Trail near Gorgas Lane.  Currently there is big hole in the bridge, and we drilled a stop sign over it for the time being!    Trail Restoration:  Trail work will be done up-hill from the bridge where there are plenty of erosion issues.  Re-grading and rolling dips will be in order along with your other creative solutions!  Downhill from the bridge touch-ups can be done in areas where we worked in July.   Trash Pick-Up:  There is also a party site nearby where trash--especially beer cans and milk crates--has been strewn about.  We need to get that ugliness out of there!  Directions Be on the lookout for FOW's new bright yellow "Volunteers At Work" signs with nifty adjustable arrows!   From Roxborough side:  Gorgas Lane is on the Roxborough side of the park.  The easiest was to access Gorgas is from Ridge Avenue.  Heading north on Ridge, Gorgas will be your first right after the light at Fountain Street.  Heading south on Ridge, Gorgas will be your first left after the WaWa at Lemonte Street.  Follow Gorgas down the hill until it dead ends at the park, and park along the side of the road.  There is parking along the side of Gorgas and other streets in the area.  Continue walking down the road and you will come to our work day base.

From Forbidden Drive:  You can also access the work site from Forbidden Drive by foot or bicycle.  From Valley Green Inn, head south (downstream) on Forbidden Drive for one mile.  Before you get to the large stone bridge that crosses the Wissahickon Creek, make a right up the side trail which immediately follows a stone wall that spans a small creek.  You will see the yellow FOW Volunteers sign!  Follow this trail until you cross a concrete bridge.  This will bring you to our work day base.
