Please join us at our Trail Maintenance Day, sponsored by Friends of Wissahickon, in the Wissahickon Valley Park. Trail Restoration on White Trail Above Kitchen's Lane We will work on the rocky gully climb up the trail from the Kitchen's Lane parking lot. Over time, water runoff has eroded the trail badly. The plan is to de-berm the side of the trail and use the soil to build rolling dips to keep the water flow in check and off the trail. If you plan to participate please RSVP to

Directions: Follow Kitchen's Lane until it dead ends into the park. The parking lot is there. Kitchen's lane is off of Wissahickon Ave. in Chestnut Hill. Notes and Tips: On the work days, water, coffee and snacks are provided. All tools and work gloves are provided by FOW and PMBA. Just bring yourself and the proper clothing (see next tip). It is a good idea to wear a hat, sunglasses, work boots (if you have them, if not at least wear sneakers—no sandals!), and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty! Light-weight pants are better than shorts for protecting against poison ivy and tics. Volunteers are always encouraged to travel by foot or bicycle if you are able. Parking areas are sometimes limited. Please always sign-in when you arrive, and sign-out when you leave. |
